5 October 2022 – inDriver has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for an initiative to assist drivers to contribute to social security programs. Through the partnership, inDriver will facilitate drivers who are interested to participate in the Employment Social Security Program under the Non-wage Earner (BPU) sector.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by representatives from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, the Directorate General of Industrial Relations and Social Security for Workers and the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.
The partnership will see both parties take on initiatives to address the challenges related to the lack of understanding of the importance of social security and the difficulty of accessing such services by informal sector workers. Together with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, inDriver will provide easy access to enroll into the Non-wage Earners Program and receive guidance for contributions through its app. This will ensure that drivers can register and contribute to social security with ease.
Dini Dwi Santria, inDriver’s Country Driver Acquisition Team Leader said “The partnership between BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and us is a testament to our commitment to ensure that drivers' welfare is protected. We’re excited to be working together with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan to implement the program Jaminan Sosial Ketenagakerjaan for every individual who works independently including for inDriver drivers. Under the program, drivers will receive compensation under the Work Accident Insurance Program (JKK) and the Death Insurance Program (JKM) in the event of an unfortunate incident.”
“As a start, we have made two-month contributions for 1,000 drivers. We hope this will provide peace of mind to the drivers using the inDriver platform to earn money as they continue to provide ride-hailing services to our users,” she added.
Meanwhile, Eko Nugriyanto, Deputy Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan of DKI Jakarta Region said “BPJS Ketenagakerjaan appreciates the effort made by inDriver to assist drivers to receive employment social security protection. It is in line with the government’s objective to ensure the welfare of those from the Non-wage Earner group is protected, while also contributing to financial inclusion efforts. We’re looking forward to our collaboration with inDriver to provide social security coverage to drivers under the Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Security Insurance (JKM) program.”
Drivers interested to participate in the program can register at any time and anywhere through a special form developed by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and inDriver. After successful registration, drivers will be able to receive social security benefits under the terms of Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Security Insurance (JKM) for only Rp 16,800 per month. This fee will be paid independently by driver every month so that the administration is orderly so that if there is a work risk, the process of disbursing the protection benefits will be very easy. This program can be enjoyed by drivers in more than 50 cities where inDriver operates.
To ensure the successful implementation of the initiative, inDriver together with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will conduct a socialization program for drivers to raise awareness on the importance of social security, and provide necessary information on the program such as the amount of contributions, protection benefits, payment methods and processes.
